We work only from what the photograph holds.

Painted Kindred restores old photographs and paints what is in them. Creases, foxing, fading, a torn corner, a face behind a fold: that is the normal condition of the material, and most of it is recoverable.

What we will not do is invent. We do not guess an eye colour a black-and-white negative never recorded, and we do not give someone a smile they were not wearing. A restoration that improves on the original is not a restoration—it is a stranger with a family resemblance.

Three portraits come back from one scan, watermarked, before you pay. The only damage we cannot work around is a face that is not there, and we will tell you that before you spend anything rather than after.
